When @emilyyleung and I started dating back a couple years ago, she introduced me to a spot her family had been to many times after their orchestra practices. @thedumplingkingtoronto was one of the first places I ever experienced a restaurant that specializes in northern Chinese dumplings/cuisine.
I could share about how amazing, how delicious, comforting, and nuanced their varieties of steamed/fried dumplings and other offerings are, but more than that, I want to share about one of the people who runs the business who has become near and dear to me and Emily’s hearts. Through coming frequently, we connected with and got to know Amanda. She’s always hard at work at the restaurant and being a mother to her children. I’ve talked a lot about knowing the face and names of the people who put the food on your plate when you dine out, and how that makes your experience even more special and valuable. It’s like that when we go to Dumpling King. Seeing Amanda, catching up with her, seeing the same faces of the servers and the elderly women at the back of the room filling and pinching the dumpling doughs makes you appreciate what’s in front of you more. It seriously is such a great place that every time we go which on average is once a week or two, it feels like the first time going. Every time 😁 It has become one of my all time favourite restaurants!
